Roadtrip blog part 12 - Hawaii

Maui - Hawaii

Next week was spent in Maui. It has to follow the story that we had been told that this was paradise on earth! Well it definately comes close and the funny thing is that it actually resembels our little paradise on earth too. Iceland and Hawaii have a lot in common as everyone knows, but for us to see "Iceland" with warm weather and Palm trees, was very funny and interesting.

On Maui there are too very different sides of things, there is the dry side, and there is the wet side. Most of the turists stay on the dry side ofcause to toste themselves in the sun but on the wet side there are these very beautiful, green and lush places where you enjoy the nature more, or at least the nature that is VERY different from Iceland.

We flew in to Maui on the 24th of June, our fist surprise was how developed everything was and also how DRY everything looked, but we where just about to learn that we landed on the dry side of Maui. We had gotten the GREAT deal on www.priceline.com for a 5 star Marriot resort hotel. Since we called this our prematured honeymoon, we got an upgrate on our room! The room was awesome, big, modern stile, very clean and new with an oceanfront view! What a paradice.

Our second day in Maui, we had a wedding to attend. What a gorgeous place to get merried. Following are some higlights.

Kayo, this beautiful lady, walked "in" with her father.

I am quite sure she said, yes, or something similar :-)

The gang at the wedding, with the wonderful couple we got to share the day with!

The third day was dedicated to golfing, I think this was Ásgeir's favorite day on Maui! I kind of LOVED it too!!!

Far to early one morning we had booked a trip for a snoorkling session at Molokini (a little crater that is 50% under sea and aparently the best place to snoorkle around Maui). What a wonderful experience to swim with these creatures and the we reached the top when we sailed to Turtel town and swam with the big seaturtels. Here are some pictures.

Our beautiful vehicle for the trip was this boat!! On board we had breakfast on our way to Molokini and lunch on our way to turtle town! Great crew and an awesome experience.

Two days we used to drive around west Maui. Actually we were only planning to go once, but once we got to the place where they sell the best Banana bread on Maui, it was late and they had closed. So, we had (Hildigunnur had) to go there again to have this legendairy banana bread. We managed to taste some samples and bought two breads. On our way back we stopped again at the Blowhole, since it was not really blowing when we where there for the first time. While we where enjoying the Blowhole, our car was broken into and the bananabreads got stolen!! What is that??

The Blowhole thought it was about time Ásgeir took a shower!

Cheers for now!
